Fuzzy Wuzzy Peaches

Maybe I should say, "Where in the world are the Fuzzy Wuzzy Peaches?" I forgot to take a photo so check back tomorrow if you want to see the painting. I worked downtown at the Cannery Gallery yesterday and did a small painting of peaches. I found a piece of red velvet that screamed at me to be painted and the texture of the velvet made me think of peaches. I also liked that the color of the peaches was similar to the color of the velvet. That made it a challenge to distinguish the edges of the peaches even though it was very close in tone to the background color. I know that some people think, "Why in the world does she keep doing those little paintings!", but everyone that I do is helping me solve problems and gain experience.

What I'm working on today: First event of the day is taking my daughter over to Miami University for a college visit.

This afternoon I'll be painting at Art in Motion at Town and Country with Mike Elsass. He is hosting an "Open Paint" from 2-6pm where he will be demonstrating his method for painting on steel. People look at his work and think it is a simple process but each of his paintings is layer upon layer of paint. His sense of color and ability to manipulate the paint help him to create the most beautifully rich pieces that have a depth that makes you want to crawl into them. I hope to join him around 4pm.
