WORKSHOPS & CLASSES for Spring/Summer 2018

















ONE DAY PERSPECTIVE DRAWING WORKSHOP at Gallery 510
April 27 -  Friday 10am-4pm – Fee $45.
June 19 – Tuesday 10am-4pm – Fee $45.
This workshop will teach some of the most important perspective concepts for landscape painting or drawing. Understanding one and two-point perspective is the key to success in realistic art. Learn how to make windows, doors and architectural details look correct thru demonstrations and instruction.  Supply list is minimal.

ONE DAY STILL LIFE DRAWING WORKSHOP at Gallery 510
May 15 -  Tuesday 10am-4pm – Fee $45.
The day will focus on basic drawing concepts including perspective, how to see proportions and tonal drawing. If you need to refine your drawing skills as a foundation for painting or just want to improve your drawing skills this class is for you.  Demonstrations are part of the class. Students will be working from still life set-ups supplied by teacher. Supply list is minimal.

2 DAY WORKSHOP – SEEING VALUE & UNDERSTANDING COLOR
June 20 & 21, Thursday & Friday, 10am-4pm – Fee $85.
Whether you paint in watercolor, acrylic or oil, this 2-day workshop will help you improve your understanding of value and color. The first day will be spent studying value and how it helps define form and create spatial illusion.  Day two will be a study of color, warm vs. cool colors, how to mix colors more accurately and how to see the value of colors.

ONE DAY INTRODUCTION TO OIL PAINTING WORKSHOP at Gallery 510
June 29 -  Friday 10am-4pm - Fee $45
Loretta will do a demonstration painting, explain supplies and discuss the basic techniques of working with oil paint.  Instruction will be given on surfaces to paint on, palette set-up, paint mediums, brushes and safe handling of oil paint.  Supply list available upon registration.

Loretta Puncer has taught drawing and painting for the past 12 years at a variety of places including Rosewood Arts Center, the Dayton Art Institute and her own studio.  She is comfortable working with students at all skill levels.

This class introduces classic watercolor techniques and builds slowly from the simple to the more complex. Topics include use of value, control of the medium, color mixing, and composition.  Demonstrations are part of the class. Painting from your own photographs is encouraged. Learn the fundamentals of painting with acrylics, from preparation of palette to various application techniques. Compositional issues, design challenges, color use and theory will be addressed. Students should have drawing skills, but can be new to painting.

MIXED MEDIA WORKSHOP at Rosewood Arts Centre in Kettering
Develop rich and complex abstract imagery by combining and affixing a variety of traditional and non-traditional materials to canvas. Instruction will address the characteristics of texture mediums, paper and fabric adhesives, paint application, material compatibility, craftsmanship and durability. Students must bring 4 tubes of acrylic paint and paintbrushes. All other materials are provided.

Color use and theory will be a secondary theme.  Classes usually range from beginners looking for instruction on the basics to experienced students looking to refine their skills. Participants will gain experience in creating original acrylic paintings using their own photographs and resource materials.  Supply list available upon paid registration.

TWO-DAY INK & WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP –
A Landscape Painting, Start to Finish
Friday & Saturday, May 16 & 17, 10am-4pm, $95
Follow Loretta on a project from start to finish and create your own ink & watercolor painting step-by-step. Using the neighboring Oregon Historic District as a source for subject matter, see all the resources and techniques that Loretta uses for a landscape watercolor. You will go home with a finished painting and lots of information. Supply list provided upon registration, approx. cost $30. Please bring a brown bag lunch. Beverages will be provided.

ONE-DAY DRAWING WORKSHOP with Loretta Puncer

All levels of artists will gain a better understanding of the principles of drawing during this one-day workshop. Through a series of demonstrations and exercises based on still life set-ups students will study line, value and perspective. Still life set-ups are provided. Students provide their own drawing supplies- a list is available upon registration. Please bring a brown bag lunch. Beverages will be provided.
